In the Great Cave at Niah we stayed on the boardwalk most of the time. The ground was either rocks or guano deposited by millions of bats and swifts. (Swifts are similar to swallows but are faster fliers.) The boardwalk had spots which were slippery with guano too. Passage through the cave took us an hour, and included many stairs.
